YLSLG Part of Project That Wins Yet Another Top Honor

Yasmin L. Stump Law Group, PC (YLSLG) understands the significance of improving infrastructure and connecting communities, and the firm is proud to share that as part of the project team, Ohio River Bridges (ORB) Project has been awarded yet another top honor. The Tenth Annual America’s Transportation Awards competition recently named the East End Bridge of the ORB Project 2017’s Quality of Life/Community Development winner, noting its effect on the “quality of life and economic development of local communities.” This award is yet another accolade the ORB Project has received. In 2013, the ORB Project won the International Right of Way’s (IRWA) Project of the Year.

As an integral part of the ORB Project team, YLSLG helped the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), the condemning agency for the East End Bridge, obtain possession of real estate interests needed for the project under strict deadlines and a fast-paced schedule. The ORB Project involved the renovation of an existing bridge and the construction of two brand-new bridges to better connect Indiana and Kentucky on Interstate 65.  With delay fees of $100,000 per day per parcel, YLSLG successfully saved taxpayers millions in potential costs and kept the project’s budget at approximately $760 million.

The ORB construction has helped local communities to thrive. An $87 billion impact in the region is estimated for the next 30 years.  Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky citizens will experience economic growth, improved safety and an increased quality of life due to this significant project.

The Tenth Annual America’s Transportation Awards competition was sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, AAA and the American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO).  AASHTO’s membership includes the department of transportation from each state, and its important function is to establish standards, specifications, guidelines and protocols for highway design and construction. Earlier this year, YLSLG, along with engineering firm Beam, Longest & Neff, LLC, were the co-sponsors of the welcome reception at the 2017 AASHTO Subcommittee on Right of Way, Utilities & Outdoor Advertising Conference.
